The Brummie striker has started four Premier League games this term and has played just 16 minutes of football in the Kop’s last four matches.

Sturridge has only featured once for England in 2017, and has half a season to win his place back in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions set up ahead of next summer’s World Cup in Russia.

The former Chelsea hitman is likely to have other options closer to home if he pushed for a move in January.

West Ham, Newcastle and Everton have all been linked with a move for Sturridge in recent months.
