According to a new report from horology and watch blog Hodinkee, Swiss watchmakers Rolex, Tudor, and Patek Philippe have all confirmed that their new releases for 2020 will now be delayed. With Baselworld 2019 ending March 26 last year and the event’s 2021 schedule slated for January 27, it could possibly mean 22 months without any new releases from the three brands, an unprecedented phenomenon in recent years.
Despite this, none of the three industry giants have given a clear timeline of when the announcement or release of their upcoming models would be, so there may be still hope for the enthusiasts and collectors out there if the coronavirus situation turns better before the year ends. With this said, industry experts have expressed concern regarding the livelihood of Baselworld if Rolex, Tudor and Patek Philippe do decide to announce their 2020 models off-cycle. According to a new article published in Le Temps, the venerable watch show is already enduring a particular turbulent time right now.
