THE Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC) has opened its Malaysia Social Innovation (MySI) 2020 fund offer programme for a period of one month.

The funding programme is opened for registration from Feb 20 until March 20, 2020, to federal government and state agencies, statutory bodies, public universities, government-related companies and limited-liability companies.

Deputy MESTECC Minister Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis (picture) said the programme is an innovation branch that can have substantial effect on the rakyat, especially those from bottom 40% (B40) income households.

“Subsequently, this programme can benefit the community in improving individual capacity with job opportunities and revenue via local technology applications.

“I want to call local technology owners to take advantage of this opportunity to translate their innovations into increasing revenue, productivity and wellbeing of the community, thus contributing together in achieving the Vision of Common Prosperity, then Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” she said in a statement last Friday.

In 2020, there will be five priority areas for the MySI project implementation, namely economics (agriculture, fisheries and livestock), green technology, environmentally friendly, health and safety.

Applications during the year can be done online through an accessible e-MySI system via the website at http://www.mestecc.gov.my/emysi, and more information in relation to the MySI 2020 programme can also be obtained through the same address.

The fund was previously known as the MOSTI Social Innovation programme from 2016 and has since been branded as MySI in 2019.

These funds and programmes are aimed at improving the wellbeing of people with priority to the B40 group via the implementation and application of the innovative local research and development project in a sustainable method.
