How many items have you checked off your bucket list so far? If you haven’t even started yet don’t worry: you’ve got a whole lifetime to work on it.
In fact, if you’re looking for somewhere to start, it’s waiting for you right here in BC. That’s because Whitecap Alpine has revealed its first-ever alpine sauna tucked away in the depths of the South Chilcotin Mountains.
You already know how blissfully relaxing it is to recharge in a sauna. Now imagine the ultimate serenity of doing this at 6,000 ft. above sea level, while you look out at a crystal-clear glacial lake.
Perched on a boulder platform, the sauna is the result of years of dreaming and logistical planning by Whitecap Alpine, a family-owned and operated backcountry skiing and hiking lodge located near Whistler, which dates back to 1972.
Of course, the only way a sauna would fit into the middle of the alpine is if it is blended into the surrounding landscape. And that’s exactly what Whitecap Alpine’s cedar-made sauna does!
From inside the sauna, guests can see right out across the valley, making it an even more wondrous experience. Picture it now: dipping in the lake for a swim after a day of hiking and exploring alpine trails, followed by some heat therapy in the sauna.
Wondering how to get there? It’s equally as exclusive and wanderlust-inspiring: you take a helicopter.
That’s right! When you book a trip with Whitecap Alpine, it includes return helicopter flights from Pemberton into the lodge, a private chef who’ll whip up snacks and meals for you, as well as overnight accommodations at the private mountain hideaway, McGillivray Pass Lodge.
Sound dreamy enough for you? We thought so.
Whitecap Alpine is running summer hiking trips until September 29, so you’ve still got plenty of time to fit in your summer mountain getaway. You don’t have to worry about the logistics, planning, or anything else, because the team at Whitecap Alpine will do that for you.
Expert hiking guides will be happy to take you and your group to spectacular alpine ridges nearby, or guide you to one of many picturesque alpine lakes where Instagram opportunities are endless.
